Windows 10 unable to access network drive or share folder error 0x80004005 (SMB 1.0 CIFS issue)

If you are running Windows 10 and recently update you might be getting error 0x80004005 when trying to connect to a network share.

This is because SMB1.0 is automatically disabled on Windows 10 and needs to be re-added in Programs and Features.

Follow these steps to fix your network connection error 0X8004005:

  1. Start
  2. Control Panel
  3. Programs and Features
    1. Select “Turn Windows features on or off”
    2. Scroll down to SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support
      1. Select “Tick the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client”
        1. Untick SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal
        2. Untick SMB 1.0/CIFS Server

Please note that SMB 1.0 should not be used as its an insecure protocol.
